A league has three options for determining how officials are assigned:
1. Assigning by the official coordinator only.
2. Request/Confirm - an official can request games to officiate, and the official coordinator confirms the request
3. Self-Assign - an official can self-assign to officiate a match.
Under options 2 & 3 the official coordinator can of course still assign officials. (See League Official Settings under Options).
Official Request/Confirm
An Official can request any game listed in All Official Assignments that is within his or her comfort level (See Official Strength in the Official Coordinator chapter) by clicking onI'd Like It. When a game is requested, an email is sent to the official coordinator and the venue official coordinator (if any is assigned) for the venue on which the game will be played. When the official coordinator views All Official Assignments, any game that has requests will have a Requested button. Clicking on the button will display all officials who have requested that game. Each request is date and time stamped. The official coordinator can choose one of the requesters or someone else. Email will be sent to the official confirming the assignment.
Official Self-Assignment
An Official can self-assign to any game listed in All Official Assignments that is within his or her comfort level (See Official Strength in the Official Coordinator chapter) by clicking the I'll Take It. The official coordinator will get an email each time a game is self-assigned. Of course, the official coordinator can always override a self-assignment.
